Chapter 36 : Mineral Demon; Solus
After Fedor-san’s merciless counterattack to 《Cerberus’s Fang》’s ambush, we continued our exploration on the 3rd floor of 《Demon’s Den》.
The miasma-filled UG 3rd floor wasn’t a place where a normal human without specialized skills could handle the air here nor could they stay for too long.
It was also filled with powerful demon beasts.
We had to subjugate 《Mineral Demon; Solus》 as fast as possible and leave this place.
We also had to submit the report about 《Cerberus Fang》which terrorized Romburgh City’s adventurers for the last few years to the army as soon as possible.
「There’s so many Zombie Rats in this place huh…」
Fedor-san muttered in a small voice.
We’re currently running in the passage to escape from crowds of ten zombie rats.
Even though they wouldn’t go after us, by the time we realized it, it was already too late. Edda attacked one of those zombie rats.
Well in fact she wasn’t fully at fault, the one she attacked was separated from the rest but, the moment Edda’s sword pierced its abdomen, that zombie rat called out to its comrades.
「… I reflect on my action.」
「Haha, those guys are slow anyways. They won’t be able to catch up with us.」
Even Edda showed a rare display of apologizing to Fedor-san.
She might’ve misread those zombie rats’ stamina.
After we managed to shake the pursuit of those zombi rats’, we decided to take a brief rest to recover our stamina.
Even so, the two of them didn’t seem that tired since they adjusted their running pace to me…. Or so I thought, Edda seems to be out of breath since she leaned her back on the wall.
「… Edda-chan, I think it’s better if you aren’t using that magic sword. It’s still too early for your level.」
When I heard Fedor-san say those words, I shifted my attention to Edda’s sword.
That magic sword had extremely high status adjustments huh.
Since Edda could barely use that magic sword at 【Lv:20】, that meant her sword was the highest rank amongst C rank weapons, or maybe a B rank weapon.

So it was true that Edda’s magic sword bestowed high status adjustment to its user.
I mean, I could only see her as a little bit tired from running.
At first, I thought that Edda’s movement was really fast but that’s not only because she was using 《Flash Decapitation》, there’s also her sword’s status correction added on top of that.
It was just as Fedor-san had said, she’s definitely powerful but her power was unstable.
「Are you okay, Edda? shall we go slowe–」
「I’m absolutely alright. You’re the one who originally needed some rest.」
Edda stood back on her feet as she said those words and walked in front of us as if becoming our vanguard.

I caught up with Fedor-san while feeling slightly disgruntled about Edda’s harsh rejection of Fedor-san’s kindness.
But right after that, my《Odo Perception・Low》, caught a giant lump of Odo close to us.
「Edda, step back right now! There’s something over there!」
Edda stopped right away.

In the passage in front of Edda, we saw many iron lances affixed on the ground and the skewered corpses of two adventurers.
An owl mask then appeared from the darkness of the passage.
Its huge pale-beast-like arms fluttering on its sides.
「No doubt about it. It’s 《Mineral Demon; Solus》!」
Fedor-san shouted loudly to warn us.
「So the human who kept loitering around has arrived. I welcome thee, and be proud, for thee shall become one of my “arts” collection!!」
Solus’s beak was moving as it spoke with words that sent a chill down my spine.
Devils, the inhabitants of 《Orgol》 had a different sense of value from humans.
They originally worshipped 《Manra》 and their faith still rooted deeply in their race to this day.
Amongst those devils who managed to arrive in 《Ilmis》, the majority of them were unscrupulous devils who ran rampant to satisfy their desires or those who inherited 《Manra》’s will and are trying to rule 《Ilmis》.
The devils from a moderate faction like Beelzebub’s was an exception, she only wanted to eat delicious meals after all.
『Such words befitting this kind of middle-rank devil indeed. Dean, there’s only one thing to do against this kind of devil, just smash their uselessly hard skull open.』
I heard Beelzebub’s voice ridiculing the devil.
Edda entered her combat stance, aiming for Solus.
I did the same, I readied 《Demon Eater Sword; Bersera》 as I kept a suitable distance away fromSolus.
Solus was a C rank devil.
Though I felt ashamed for doing this, I think it was better to leave this kind of opponent to the more skilled Fedor-san than Edda or me.
Solus’s arms made a weird gesture which followed by the formation of a magic circle.
「Now Dance, 《Poizogas》」
Purple colored mist burst out from the magic circle.
It made the first move. It used gas, a 《Matter》-type magic that has a wide range.
This kind of attack was really effective when used in the labyrinth where the air was stagnated.
「You two, DUCK! 《Blast》!」
Fedor was using magic from behind.
I ducked as soon as I heard his warning.
Fedor-san’s air blast scattered Solus’ 《Poizogas》.
「…. Uhm?」
Solus’ eyes moved eerily as if displeased by the outcome.
An opening.
With my position still ducking on the floor, I pointed my 《Demon Eater Sword; Bersera》 towards Solus.
「《Imu》!」
Though I’ve heard about its general information from Fedor-san before, I wanted to confirm a few details and the magic in its possession.

… As expected of a devil, it had various kinds of magic and skills despite only being a mid-rank devil.
The reason why its status only showed “MAG” was most likely because the body of the devil itself was nothing more than a lump of mana. And since it doesn’t have a battle bone, it can’t reinforce its physical strength or use fighting spirit.
Since its body was nothing more than a lump of mana, it means that both of its strength and speed was completely dependent on its “MAG” value.
